Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing on the ground while using the chair for support.  

Whether you're looking to maintain your strength or need to regain muscle mass, chair yoga is a great option for you. There are various poses and flows targeted to build muscle and tone the body, strengthening areas such as your arms, legs, core and back.

Benefits of Yoga, a multicomponent exercise, include:

  • Maintaining cognition
  • Improving quality of life

  • Preventing falls.

WHO recommends that people 65 years or older you should aim to do multicomponent exercise at least 3 times a week. If you are new to any exercise, start by doing small amounts and adjust how much you do based on your fitness and strength levels.
