Join Lucinda Hawksley for a special seasonal PPG as she chats to Jared Brown, co-founder and master distiller of Sipsmith Gin, London’s first newly licensed copper pot distillery in nearly 200 years. He is also a prolific author along with his wife and fellow drinks historian, Anistatia Miller (37 books and over 3,000 articles), and has been travelling the world for the past few decades giving masterclasses on drink to many of the world’s top bartenders. Jared has also been gin distiller for the House of Commons, and he and Anistatia were head bartenders for the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington and directors of a wine and spirits museum in the South of France. They live in the Cotswolds where they grow gin and vermouth botanicals in their garden and make rather decent martinis.
Lucinda met Jared in 2022 when they were working on a TV programme with Miriam Margolyes – after he served her a particular fine alcohol-free ‘gin twist’, in emulation of the drink made by Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, Lucinda decided Jared would be the perfect guest for the Goldster Conversation this December.
