David Brawn joined HarperCollins more than thirty years ago and has been Publisher of Estates since 1995, managing legacy authors including Agatha Christie, J.R.R. Tolkien, Ngaio Marsh, Alistair MacLean, Desmond Bagley and Patrick O’Brian. In 2015 he relaunched the Collins Crime Club imprint to bring classic books back into print, as well as new anthologies and award-winning non-fiction about the genre. He has been responsible for publishing Agatha Christie's books at a time when the importance of her work and of crime fiction generally has undergone a major re-evaluation, coinciding also with major film and television activity, and the acquisition by HarperCollins of her US publishing rights in 2010. David has also been instrumental in extending the Agatha Christie canon, from overseeing three novelisations of Christie's plays, new themed anthologies of her short stories, and the introduction of Hercule Poirot continuity novels by Sophie Hannah in 2014. The latest innovation is a book of Miss Marple short stories by twelve bestselling Agatha Christie devotees, which is published this month.
