THRIVING BEYOND PAIN: Reviving Life In The Face of Chronic Physical or Emotional Pain
In-person 8-week program in Elgin with Dr David Reilly.
Are you living with chronic pain - be it emotional, physical, or both? You are far from alone. The World Health Organisation say chronic pain is one of the main burdens on health on the planet.
During the course of our lives, over half of us will face chronic pain, with its resultant loss of self, function, well-being and joy of daily life. Then in addition, we often have to face confusion and disillusionment as we discover that painkillers are not the answer to chronic pain - in fact, they often bring their own side effects and even problems of dependency.
Dr David Reilly, an NHS doctor for over 40 years, when working in partnership with patients in an NHS Pain Clinic, charted out pathways that allowed people to get back on top of their situation and rebuild their wellness - even in the presence of continued pain.
Just as when you water a plant or bring nurturing care to a wounded animal, Life’s natural response is to heal and regrow as much as possible, and then go further to rebuild thriving.
Human beings have this same built-in ability to re-emerge from difficult situations and suffering. David summarises this as ‘Life responds to nurture.’ His approach, scientifically tested in studies, has been shown to achieve significant long-term wellness enhancement for people struggling with chronic conditions - such as pain.
Dr. Reilly is recognised globally as a pioneer in health and wellness. With a distinguished career spanning roles as a doctor, educator, researcher, and academic, he has received multiple awards for his contributions to offering a vision of better ways to rebuild health. His work addresses the emerging challenges posed by the current surge in chronic illnesses, underscoring the need for solutions beyond traditional medical interventions.
