“Hello, I’m Tanya – singer and singing tutor. I’d like to bust a few myths about singing that you may find encouraging. If you feel that you can’t sing or you haven’t got a ‘good’ voice, take some comfort in knowing that there are lots of people who feel exactly the same way. As a long-standing singing teacher, I can tell you that nobody, but nobody is born with a bad voice; A beautiful sounding voice is the consequence of a singer having learned, formally or instinctively, how to use the muscles of their throat, mouth and lips to ‘shape’ their sound. The outcome of singing with a tight jaw or with tension in your tongue, both of which are extremely common, is likely to be described as ‘not very good’ or less politely, ‘a bad voice’ and sadly, these correctible mistakes can define a person’s relationship with their singing voice for life. I have witnessed countless times, at first hand, the miracle of people who couldn’t hit a single note in tune transform into self-confident singers with ‘good’ voices. And they feel great!”

Not only will you be working on developing your skills, you will also be exercising all the muscles required for singing, including the abdominals and the many muscles of the vocal tact - a fully body work-out, no less! You can practice everything in your own time at home, along with my warm up videos.

The songs we sing are extremely varied to cater for all tastes and taken from traditional folk, blues, musical theatre & rock and pop.
