Get Vocal: Mind Muscles and Music

Whether you’re a complete novice, an occasional singer or an experienced vocalist, this class will help find, train or refresh your singing voice.

Get Vocal

Are you a daunted by the idea of singing?  Or an experienced singer in need of a refresh? Perhaps you haven’t even attempted singing, having being persuaded that Mother Nature dealt you a bad hand. If you fit into any of these categories, then this class is for you!

Author, singer and composer, Tanya Holt, has an international reputation as an effective and imaginative singing teacher. Her clients come from all over the world and include absolute beginners along with established professionals in need of fine-tuning. She has also helped actors, dancers, business professionals, teachers and ‘ordinary’ curious people, find their singing voices.
Tanya is out and proud as a ‘voice geek’ and draws on scientific evidence to help singers understand and develop their sound. She says: “Voices described as ‘not very good’ or even ‘bad’, are often the result of some basic correctible mistakes. Sadly this lack of understanding can define a person’s relationship with their singing voice for life and yet it doesn’t need to be this way.”
Get Vocal demystifies the core elements of vocal technique in a clear, practical and accessible way. You might be amazed by the difference the tiniest physical adjustment can make to the sound of your voice. Each session is structured in the same way and always includes refreshers, so you can join in at any time. Everyone is welcome, irrespective of previous experience.
Tanya will give you exercises to do at home and tips on maintaining good vocal health.
In these sessions you will:
  • Focus on the fundamentals of posture, breathing and tone.
  • Learn how to access all the notes in your range, develop your musicality and sing consistently well with technique.
  • Discover how different styles of music require different ways of singing them.
  • Avoid making the most commonly made mistakes by singers.
  • Understand why we need to warm up our voices, what we should expect from our voices as we age and why maintaining good vocal health is essential to wellbeing".
“Although  the class takes place on zoom Tanya cares for us all in a warm and friendly way and takes pride in our progress. She has made a huge difference to my understanding of how to sing well.”  Margaret - Goldster Member
“The best singing teacher I ever had”  Tony Bushell (Goldster member and semi-professional singer)
