About Bollywood Dance

"Hi, My Name is Hannah and let me bring you day to life with some Bollywood Dancing. Bollywood Dance style incorporates head, neck and body movements, mudras and footwork. Bollywood dance is the name given to the dance-form used in Indian (Hindi) films. The most energetic and colourful Indian dance forms are Bhangra and Garba (originated in the state of Gujarat, India). They merged with other dance forms from around the world, and now is the famous Bollywood dance. Bollywood Dance style is a fusion of various dance styles"

Meet the instructor Hannah Veerapen
Hannah Veerapan is a British Mauritian Dancer. Hannah trained at a high level in a variety of dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, Bollywood and classical Indian dance from a young age and has had many opportunities working in Theatre, TV and Film. Her credits include dancing for ITV's Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and working on the hit musical Wicked. She is very proud of her Asian heritage and most recently worked as a Bollywood dancer in new feature film starring Emma Thompson and she has also done various work for UK’s leading Bollywood dance company TheBollywoodCo’. Come and learn how to tell stories through Bollywood and classical Indian dance all whilst delving into the rich and colourful history of India.

Benefits of dancing, a varied multicomponent and cardiovascular exercise, include:

WHO recommends that people 65 years or older should aim to do multicomponent exercise at least 3 times a week. If you are new to any exercise, start by doing small amounts and adjust how much you do based on your fitness and strength levels.
