Ian Rankin joined Lucinda Hawksley at 6pm on Thursday 28 October. In 1987, a new detective appeared in Edinburgh, his name was John Rebus and he would change the course of British detective fiction. When Ian Rankin started writing about Rebus he was in his 20s. He could have had no idea that he would still be writing about him in his 60s, or that Rebus would have become an international household name.

In the first Goldster Author to Author event on 1st of October 2021, Lucinda Hawksley met the legendary Armistead Maupin. His iconic Tales of the City series of nine novels has been turned into a TV miniseries, a stage play, a musical and a Netflix series. Maupin has also written two other novels, Maybe the Moon and The Night Listener, as well as his memoir, Logical Family. He is an inspirational gay rights activist and a campaigner for young people’s charities.

We had a very special Goldster Book Club event to welcome in the new year. At 6pm on Wednesday 12 January, Lucinda Hawksley chatted online to Joanne Harris, the award-winning author of 19 novels, including Chocolat, Blackberry Wine and The Strawberry Thief. Her novels also include four psychological thrillers, including Gentlemen & Players and Different Class. Chocolat was turned into an Oscar-nominated film, starring Judi Dench, Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp.
